Y Character Traits

The YMCA teaches the positive values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith in all of its programs.

• Caring - demonstrates interest or concern for others. To place others ahead of yourself.
• Honesty - implies trustworthiness, integrity, honor, sincerity, and straightforwardness of conduct.
• Respect - regard and consideration toward others, appreciate other individuals and surroundings.
• Responsibility - is dependable in all that they do, is willing to be accountable for one’s actions.
• Faith - Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.

The following goals provide focus for YMCA efforts to meet community needs:

• Provide activities for youth which shape values and encourage lifelong community service
• Support and strengthen all families
• Encourage and support the development of healthy lifestyles
• Provide older adults with opportunities to create healthy and productive lives for themselves and the community
