Covid-19 Updates

Letter from our CEO

Thanks to the generosity of our members and supporters, we have been able to support our staff and continue to invest in our communities since our doors closed on March 16. As we work to continue to serve you, I ask you to please stay with us during this difficult time and keep your membership active.

By continuing to pay your membership dues as a cause-driven member, you will allow us to maintain the financial resources needed to focus our time, people and energy to where our community needs it most. In particular, our Y is focused on the following key initiatives:

  • Aligning with community partners regarding child care needs for healthcare workers, first responders and “essential” employees protecting our community
  • Continuing support for our members, especially our seniors who may feel isolated, through online health resources, personal outreach and continued community engagement.
  • Continuing support for our staff during a time when many nonprofits are struggling with layoffs. Staff and volunteer leadership remain committed to supporting our Y family as long as possible.
  • Planning for continued scholarship support when we reopen.  It’s critical that we remain able to keep our doors open to all, especially after this period of financial uncertainty.

Honoring the recommendations of Gov. Roy Cooper and the NC Department of Health and Human Services, we will remain closed through at least April 25. At the Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA, everything we do is guided by our commitment to support our community, and this is even more critical now. When you belong to the Y, you are not only a member of a health and wellness facility, you are a member of an organization dedicated to strengthening our community. In difficult times, the Y pivots in response to community needs, and finds ways to use our resources to offer solutions – and you can help.

Our next membership draft will take place on April 1, or April 15 for those of you who chose a mid-month draft. We ask you, if you are able, to please consider keeping your membership active. No action is required to remain a member. If you are unable to do so, please contact your local branch to discuss your options to put your membership on hold.

We can’t thank you enough for your support. We are in this together. Most importantly, this is not forever. We’re standing by you during this difficult time and ask that you stand by us as well. There’s a bright future ahead, and we can only get there together.

Thank you.

In your service,

Jamie Morgan
